Milton Bradley has been a long time producer of the classic board game Parcheesi. Two of a girl’s constant slumber necessities are a totally rad pillow or stuffed animal and a fun game. This travel-sized version of Parcheesi is the perfect hybrid. It has been simplified to be a two-person game, and is presented as a pillow. Two friends can go from playing a game with each other to napping next to each other. It is made to embrace the feeling of a slumber party while being practical and reducing clutter. It does so by folding from a flat 7" x 14" pillow to a 7"x7" pillow. It's designed to be easily cleaned and stores all of the necessary game pieces—four pieces per player, plus one die—securely inside itself, and it is held together with a durable band to keep the pillow compact out of the way. This is also useful for in-store labeling and shelving, keeping the name and brand visible to consumers.
The playing board and pieces themselves are made of crocheted yarn. This is to create a soft and touchable experience for the players, as well as to help embrace the feeling of a little girl’s slumber party. Kids love to make their own invitations and have fun craft projects, just as much, and perhaps even more than they enjoy popcorn and movies. Everything from the crocheted pillow front to the cut-out feel of the instructions and care information on the back is made to reflect this. The logo is the classic Parcheesi logo, to keep with traditional branding, but a new color palette was applied to fit the demographic. The palette is meant to be bright and energetic, like a group of girls excited for the first slumber party of the year. The additional typography paired with the Parcheesi logo is "Slumber Party" and is made to reflect ribbons and cursive like ones a little girl might doodle on her invitations. The body copy is Edmond Sans, a simple sans serif, intended to compliment, but not draw attention from, the crocheted pattern on the front of the pillow.
