Howdy, I'm Ariel Ximenes (that's "he-men-es," just in case you were going to ask), I'm a commercial artist in Austin, Texas. I'm a quirky individual with a passion for graphic design and illustration. I was homegrown in Austin as well has have had a short stint in Southern California, so the influences in my work create a powerful mixture. I've always found myself surrounded by different artistic venues my whole life, and I hope to keep them going as I incorporate them into my work.
My passion for graphic design started when I was young; I was always fascinated with packaging and advertisements. In high school I took a class called Business Integrated Media Management which combined the basic business practices of starting and managing a small company and the importance of a good, well-designed visual representation of the company. After high school I moved to Southern California to attend Chapman University, and now, with degree in hand, I'm pursuing a career in graphic design. I currently enjoy working on things related to branding & identity design, logo work, illustration, information design, product design, and package design. That said, I tend to enjoy most creative work.
I've been drawing, doodling, and coloring since I was in the womb (yes that's right, I had a drawing pad en utero)… needless to say, it is a long time passion of mine. Ironically, it wasn't until 12th grade that I took an art class; I was too busy learning German, working backstage in my school's theatre, and filming the football games. Since then, I have learned to appreciate illustration as something both fun, and practical, and not as just a hobby. It was a way to help others obtain the visual representation that they desired for their ideas, something I found special and self-fulfilling. At Chapman University, I kept up with my illustration and worked hard to build my design skills and integrate them into a wide-variety of projects. Since graduating in 2013, I've continued to keep up with fun and interesting design projects, ranging from coffee mandalas, gin themed playing cards, honey badger logos, and even a made by hand portable background for Bonzo Crunch the clown.
